Employment of DE Weapons Conference 2013
26-30 August 2013 Monterey, California

Location & Accommodations   Call for Papers   Conference Contacts

Please note the change in date for this event.

The Employment of DE Weapons Conference provides a forum for the discussion of DE technologies employed as systems for the defense of the United States. The goal of the conference is to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas on the employment of directed energy weapon systems that include laser and microwave technology. Topics of interest include operational employment concepts, systems developments, and barriers to employment.

A consideration of these advantages and challenges before deployment can accelerate the transforming power of these weapons and minimize the possible downsides. Therefore, it is important that the DoD community consider all aspects of operations, training, and testing of DE weapons. This should include an understanding of current efforts and the definition of areas where additional effort is required to ensure rapid integration of these systems into the active inventory as soon as they become available.

As a forum for these considerations, the 2013 Employment of Directed Energy Weapons Conference will be held on 26-30 August 2013 to investigate issues surrounding the employment of DE weapons. The conference is part of the Directed Energy Systems Symposium.

Symposium

The Employment of DE Weapons Conference is constantly striving to enhance technical excellence while providing a forum to encourage interaction with other members of the Directed Energy (DE) community. To that end, the overall number of presentations may be limited and papers screened for new and innovative work. An extended abstract is encouraged to allow the author to fully describe their planned paper. Submissions will also be considered for the poster session.

The Employment of DE Weapons Conference will publish all presentations (and papers) as a part of the DE Systems Symposium proceedings that have been properly released by a sponsoring government agency and have proper classification markings. The proceedings will be organized as follows to allow for maximum distribution of the technical data:

  • Unclassified / Distribution A (Public Release)
  • Unclassified / Distribution A and C
  • Unclassified / Distribution A, C and D
  • Secret / Distribution C
  • Secret / Distribution D

Submitting Abstracts
Directions for submitting abstracts consideration are provided below. Note that it is the responsibility of the lead author to obtain all approvals and releases for submitted materials.

Additionally, please identify the presenter (if different from the lead author) and provide up-to-date contact information. Abstracts should be submitted online by completing this form.

Authors who submitted their abstract prior to 1 May will be notified on or before 25 May 2013 of acceptance of their paper for presentation and / or publication. Additional instructions for submitting classified papers and presentations may be provided at that time.

Please contact webmaster@deps.org with any technical issues regarding abstract submission. Subject matter questions regarding abstracts should be directed to your conference chair.

Note: While an automated email is sent confirming receipt of your abstract, some military domains may block delivery of such an email. If you do not receive email confirmation, you may check this listing of submitted abstracts. This listing is dynamically generated based on abstracts received at the time the page is displayed and author permission (granted when submitted). If the title of your abstract is contained in this listing, it has been received by DEPS.
