DIRECTED ENERGY PROFESSIONAL SOCIETY

Directed Energy Education Workshop 2005
18 November 2005 Lihue, Hawaii

Education is vital to the Directed Energy community. Fostering the professional growth of current workers in the field and increasing the number of young, new members in the community are important DEPS educational goals. This was the fifth Workshop in a series of DE Education Workshops to advance these goals. The workshops consider current and future Directed Energy education programs around the country.

This meeting was supported by a grant from the High Energy Laser Joint Technology Office, and was jointly sponsored by DEPS and Kauai Community College. The Office of Naval Research also supported this meeting.

The scope of the workshop included:

  • Programs from K-12 through graduate school and technical vocational training
  • Professional continuing education
  • Student motivators (scholarships, fellowships, recognitions)
  • Summer internship programs
  • Follows the Teacher and Counselor Workshop
  • Curriculum development

This Workshop was co-located with and immediately followed the technical program of the Eighth Annual Directed Energy Symposium, held in Lihue, Hawaii on 14-18 November 2005.
