DIRECTED ENERGY PROFESSIONAL SOCIETY

Directed Energy Modeling and Simulation Conference 2006
20-24 March 2006 Monterey, California

The M&S of DE phenomena, devices, systems, and engagements is expanding in importance as DE systems are being developed and acquired. This is especially true now that several DE systems are entering the formal development and acquisition process. The heavy dependence upon M&S throughout the lifecycle of modern systems makes M&S critical to transition and acquisition success.

The Fourth Annual Directed Energy Modeling and Simulation (DE M&S) Conference addressed these issues. The Conference was part of the Directed Energy Systems Symposium and was conducted in parallel with the Beam Control Conference, the Employment of Directed

Energy Weapons Conference, and the High Energy Laser Lethality Conference. Although there were some joint technical sessions between the conferences, each conference in the Symposium was conducted separately and each conference published their proceedings. The final detailed Symposium Program is available for download. The free Adobe Reader is required to view and print the flyer.

The scope of this conference encompassed:

  • High energy lasers (HEL) and high power microwaves (HPM)
  • Virtual and constructive M&S
  • Physics and engineering, engagement, mission, and campaign levels
  • Unclassified and classified topics
  • Government, academic, and industry viewpoints
  • M&S technology and techniques, such as VV&A, optimization algorithms, scaling laws, and distributed simulation methodology
  • DE M&S in test and evaluation
