Education is vital to the Directed Energy community. Fostering the professional growth of current workers in the field and increasing the number of young, new members in the community are important DEPS educational goals. This was the sixteenth Workshop in a series of DE Education Workshops to advance these goals. The Workshops consider current and future Directed Energy education programs around the country. Additionally, the Education Workshop offered a sampling of the work currently being pursued by students, especially those supported by JTO internships or scholarships. The Workshop was on the afternoons of Wednesday, 15 February and Thursday, 16 February in conjunction with the technical program of the Ninteenth Annual Directed Energy Symposium, also held in Huntsville on 13-17 February 2017.
