These short courses were offered in conjunction with the Directed Energy Modeling & Simulation Conference. Verification, Validation and Accreditation of Models & Simulations Instructors:
For this conference, AEgis is presenting a four-hour tutorial covering the basics of VV&A using excerpts from their two-day course. The course will present the definitions of verification, validation, and accreditation and discuss their relationship to M&S credibility. It will focus on accreditation process development and applying a systems engineering process for VV&A planning and programming. Additionally, recommended V&V techniques and their appropriate uses will be presented. The tutorial uses state-of-the-art, computer-based multimedia presentations to illustrate M&S VV&A in an easy-to-understand manner. Each multimedia presentation is followed by discussions to encourage communications and facilitate the exchange of information of most value to the participants. Modeling and Simulation in System Acquisition Instructor: Dr. Sam Blankenship, DEPS The applications of modeling and simulation (M&S) in system acquisition are extremely broad and range from initial requirements definition and Analysis of Alternative studies through detailed system design to test & evaluation planning and support. The M&S appropriate to each application vary greatly in scope, detail, and accuracy. This short course reviews M&S features and discusses M&S applications throughout the acquisition process. DOD guidance regarding M&S as applied to system acquisition decisions is discussed. The course is a basic introduction, intended for technical and management personnel who seek to gain an appreciation for the roles of M&S in DOD systems development.
